Dana's Shower Time
SHAMPOO & CONDITIONER: Only the second time in use.
Dana seems quite ambivalent about the entire shower experience. This was quite a departure when we first got her, she was so terrified of getting herself wet.
Hey! Watch where the water is going!
Watch me shake all these water off.
IT'S THE FUR: Ah Ma, don't say I am fat anymore, see how slim I am.
After the shampoo and the conditioning, Dana needs to be hand-dryer dried to get her fluffy look back.
I love the breeze...
QUESTIONING EYES: Daddy, are you done yet?
Dana clean and happy, basking in the afternoon sun.

Dad's Secondary School Friend
Personally, I liked the spare parts soup the best. The laksa was not too bad. And the curry for the fish head was quite fragrant. So you may like to patronise the stall if you drop by but there are many other stalls to try as well. For us, we also ordered from other stalls. My brother Ben tried a char kway teow and said it was good. The roast duck from another stall was good but the stall will be shifting to another location soon.

Where are you, Dana?
Guess who I saw on my bed, looking smug and a little drowsy, together with my freshly aired clothes which I have just folded.

Wishing you a 2nd Happy Birthday. This is how you looked like one year ago. My, you have grown. Thank you for being my faithful friend and doggy cousin. Come over this weekend and I will share with you my raw-hide ball which I have difficulty dismantling. Ah Ma says you are the expert at doing this.

EJ 6465 R
This was our first family car - a Mazda 323. Recalled I was either in primary 1 or 2, my dad drove his new (actually second-hand) car and picked us up from school. That was in 1987. So when this photo was taken in 1991, the car had gone through 4 years of use. And it will continue to be our loyal servant until 2001 when my dad FINALLY got a new car, again a Mazda 323 but one with automatic windows, an air-con that worked and reliable brakes. Our EJ6465R was a real bone-shaker, in every sense of the word, especially in the latter years. The car's air-con never really worked and it never mattered to us. On excursions, and there were lots of them every weekend, the windows were rolled down and we would enjoy the breeze in our face and hair. It became a little unbearable when it was raining and it got stuffy. My dad said that the floor of the car at the driver's seat was corroded so much to the extent that one could see the road surface, somewhat like Fred Flintstone's prehistoric vehicle!
Woodlands Town Garden - Then and Now
The location was Woodlands Town Garden. Looking at the young trees, the garden must have been recently opened. This garden was one of the places we often visited to take a walk or to use the playground. My dad also visited it faithfully every weekend morning to practice his tai-chi. I also recall a Mooncake Festival organised at the garden by the Community Centre which was very well attended. The Lost Child - 20 Jul 87
This was my first published article which earned me a grand total of $7. As a primary school student then, $7 was a big amount considering we survived on a daily pocket money of fifty cents a day. My classmates were all very illustrious students and when one friend of mine got his composition published, it sparked off a frenzy of the whole class sending compositions to the newspaper. Sadly, for me at least, this was my one and only article.
