This was our first family car - a Mazda 323. Recalled I was either in primary 1 or 2, my dad drove his new (actually second-hand) car and picked us up from school. That was in 1987. So when this photo was taken in 1991, the car had gone through 4 years of use. And it will continue to be our loyal servant until 2001 when my dad FINALLY got a new car, again a Mazda 323 but one with automatic windows, an air-con that worked and reliable brakes.
Our EJ6465R was a real bone-shaker, in every sense of the word, especially in the latter years. The car's air-con never really worked and it never mattered to us. On excursions, and there were lots of them every weekend, the windows were rolled down and we would enjoy the breeze in our face and hair. It became a little unbearable when it was raining and it got stuffy. My dad said that the floor of the car at the driver's seat was corroded so much to the extent that one could see the road surface, somewhat like Fred Flintstone's prehistoric vehicle!
